French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Indonesia has further solidified the strong partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized that the friendship between Indonesia and France goes beyond symbolism, highlighting the significant cooperation that exists between them. The visit saw Macron being warmly welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
During his visit, Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stressed the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been maintained for 75 years, with notable progress made over the past decade.
Macron also acknowledged Indonesia’s role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and lauded the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition initiatives. The focus on cultural collaboration was evident during Macron’s visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic representation of the deepening friendship between the two nations.
