As President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived at Merdeka Palace in a motorcade with tight security, they were warmly greeted by President Prabowo Subianto, marking the official beginning of the visit.
Following the official welcome, the two leaders, along with attending ministers and dignitaries, walked to the ceremonial grounds with the national anthems of both countries playing and a 21-gun salute as a formal gesture. President Macron took a moment to acknowledge the enthusiastic students waving flags, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the palace courtyard. The visit included a trip to the Military Academy in Magelang and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Borobudur Temple, showcasing the rich cultural and educational values shared between Indonesia and France.
Moreover, a closed-door bilateral meeting between President Macron and President Prabowo was held to discuss various strategic partnerships, underscoring the deepening ties between the two countries.
